TEN THINGS I'VE LEARNED AT TWENTY-THREE.

When I turned 21 I thought to myself, "This is the last birthday that I'll ever look forward to." And I always see these articles about turning the dreaded thirty, whether it's things to do before then or things that you should learn before the Big 3-0. I have a while until I turn thirty but that doesn't mean that I haven't learned new things at 23 or have a list of things I want to do before I turn 24. Every age is significant in our lives and we should recognize it for what it is, even if it does mean getting a little older.

TEN THINGS I'VE LEARNED AT TWENTY-THREE.
/// You can wear black and brown together, despite being taught all of these years not to.
/// It's okay to have a lunch beer, no, you're not an alcoholic.
/// The silence button on your phone is a godsend. Don't answer if you don't want to.
/// A calendar is easier to keep track of on your iPhone, no matter how much more fun it is to write down on a pretty pad.
/// It's better to be over-dressed than under-dressed.
/// Don't leave the house without mascara and lipstick.
/// Never e-mail before a cup of coffee or after two glasses of wine.
/// Don't wash your hair everyday.
/// Always have fresh flowers in your home.
/// When all else fails, eat your weight in fish tacos.

THE HOUSE WITH THE PURPLE DOOR.

I apologize for my periods of silence between blog posts these past few weeks. They have been crazy with moving and all. We are almost settled, this weekend we have to wrap up packing the final things and cleaning up the old apartment. Not the most exciting way to spend the weekend but I think Mother Nature decided to make it a little easier for me by giving us crappy weather for the next few days.

Greg's mom came to visit us last night and check out the new digs. She took this quick photo for us. Their dog, Carbon, came along with her and made the photo even cuter. Hopefully we can get some better photos soon. I will be posting a quick tour, as well, once the house is all set up.
Just because I am still on cloud nine about the new place, I have been listing all of the things that I love about it in my head and thought I'd share a few.
...the purple front door with the mail slot
...the pull-out ironing board in the kitchen
...the original light fixtures
...the glass doorknobs
...the beautiful yard (thanks to our amazing landlord)
...and the best of all..............THE WASHER AND DRYER!
It's crazy the things that you take advantage of until you don't have them. I no longer have to load up the laundry and haul to my parent's house to wash. I'm pretty sure our new washer hasn't stopped all week just because out of excitement, I have been washing everything I possibly can!

HAPPY CATURDAY!

Hope you all are having a great weekend so far! I have a feeling like it's going to be a busy one around here but I wanted to start it off this morning with a mini post while I'm having my morning coffee. We have a lot of packing to do around the apartment this weekend, among other things. We can start moving things now and then we can officially stay at the new place next Sunday. I can't wait. I am, however, dreading moving the cat to a new place. Last time we moved, she didn't take it too well and hid under the couch for about a week. Hopefully it's not as tough this time because A) I like seeing that little gal running around here and 2) it's sad. Wish us luck!

IT'S SPRING AND I HAVE GOOD NEWS!

After more than six months looking for a house to rent, we finally found the perfect one! We were pretty picky while looking since we were month-to-month on our apartment and didn't have to rush out of it. We move in a little less than two weeks but have a lot to do to get ready for it. I can't wait to post a little tour of the new place! It's perfect!

It's officially spring in Salt Lake. Tomorrow's high is 80 degrees. It's bittersweet for me. I like the spring but I'm not a huge fan of the summer heat. However, as you can see from this photograph, we are able to finally utilize our little balcony patio and that's always the best feeling. Greg and I tend to meet for beers on the balcony each night during the summer after we get off of work. I'll miss it when we move but we do have a decent-sized backyard at the new house and can finally have barbeques of our own, which we have been waiting to do forever.

My countdown for my girls trip to Las Vegas with one of my best friends begins now! We will be there in exactly one month to soak up then sun, lay and drink by the pool, and see Britney in concert. I couldn't be more excited for the next month, there's so much to look forward to!

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH HAPPY.

Stick with me and my posts while I'm trying my best to kick negative thoughts out of my head. Life gets hard, shit happens. Some days I want to jump for joy, others I want to jump off of a cliff. Today I was searching through Pinterest and came across a quote from an unknown person that said "I don't have time for negativity" followed by another that my mama sent me that said "Sometimes I regret being nice, apologizing when I didn't do anything wrong, and for making unworthy people a priority in my life". Well, hello reality, thanks for the smack in the face telling me to shape-the-hell-up.

I decided that I need a constant reminder of how lucky and truly blessed I am so I am starting right now, today, listing five things each day that I'm thankful for. I read an article recently on another blog about how if think enough positivity then the negativity will be pushed out. It makes sense, right? But you can't always believe what you read these days so let's test it out......

Easy silence.......
Flowers surrounding me........
New bottle of wine........
Good book to read.........
Comfy clothes........

Think positive. Think happiness.
